Every program within the Workforce Development, Entrepreneurship and Business Development Divisions of National Urban League and through its affiliates, we all are working towards the central goal of ensuring that every American has access to jobs with living wages and good benefits. Ensuring that people are able to create and maintain a good quality of life by creating opportunities and removing traditional barriers.

Entrepreneurship and Business Development provides minority-owned businesses with financial investment, technical training and corporate relationships to create economic opportunities that ensure long-term growth.

Workforce Development delivers employment services to individuals and families to encourage economic self-sufficiency through career counseling, job placement, retention and advancement.

What does the Urban League of Greater Richmond do to ensure that "every American child is ready for college, work and life"?

The Education and Youth Development (EYD) divison of the National Urban League develops innovative programs to support academic achievement, civic involvement, and the physical and emotional development of children and youth through its local affiliates such as ours.

For more than 50 years, EYD has worked to improve educational opportunities for African American students. The EYD achieves its goal of fostering academic excellence through the development of policies and programs that focus on early childhood education, college preparedness and youth leadership programs.

What does the Urban League of Greater Richmond do to ensure that "every American lives in safe, decent, affordable and energy efficient housing on fair terms"?

As an affiliate of the National Urban League. ULGR supports housing and community development initiatives focus on expanding homeownership opportunities in inner-city neighborhoods and rural communities.

The division operates on the basis that economic and social self-sufficiency achieved through homeownership strengthens families, neighborhoods, and cities by giving residents a stake in the welfare of their communities.

By providing technical assistance and training, identifying and disseminating information on effective homeownership models, and conducting research to strengthen the policy environment for homeownership, this division enhances the programmatic and policy capabilities of local NUL affiliates to contribute to the 2025 empowerment goal of ensuring all Americans have access to safe, decent, affordable, and energy efficient housing on fair terms.
